Reserved IP Address (Static IP Alternative)
Some customers need an IP address that never changes—for example, when using remote access tools, home security systems, servers, or certain VPN configurations. Wire 3 provides this capability through an IP Address Reservation, which delivers the benefits of a static IP without requiring any special setup on your end.
What Is an IP Address Reservation?
By default, Wire 3 assigns public IP addresses using DHCP, which may occasionally issue a new IP.
With an IP Address Reservation:
Your current public IP address is reserved for your account.
Your equipment continues to receive the address via DHCP.
The address becomes fixed and persistent, changing only if you request removal.
Functionally, it operates just like a traditional static IP—without the complexity typically associated with managing one.
What Stays the Same?
Once your IP address is reserved:
Your current public IP becomes exclusively yours.
It remains the same through reboots, power outages, and equipment replacements.
No special configuration is required on your eero or other devices.
Your internet service continues working exactly as it does today.
Who Should Use a Reserved IP?
A Reserved IP is ideal if you:
Host servers or services at home
Use VPNs or remote-access tools that depend on a fixed IP
Configure port forwarding for gaming, smart home tools, or advanced applications
Need a consistent IP for business or security solutions
Most customers don’t need this feature—but for those who do, it’s a simple, reliable, and cost-effective option.
Pricing
$10/month per reserved IP address
This fee is added directly to your Wire 3 bill.
